Para Talent Development 2011

Para Talent Spotting – Final 2011

The BDSC sponsored Para Talent Spotting was this year combined with the Para Restricted Winter Championships at Vale View, Leics. giving para riders a two day competition to add to the usual assessments and attracting riders from Wales and Scotland as well as England. This year the Judges were Chris Porterfield, who judged at the World Championships last year, and Mary Anne Horn who is a F.E.I. Para Candidate Judge.

The BDSC award was won by Julia Horton riding Harvest Premier Moon, who was second in the Senior section, with a score of 84.33%. Julia comes from South Wales and was third last year in the senior section, proving that it is worth a return visit!

The winner of the Senior section, with the highest score of the competition, was Victoria Barrick on Trust Smartie, scoring 86.27%. Successful in the Young Rider Section was Charlotte George on 83.80% riding Vale View Regal Opposition and the Junior section was taken by Ashleigh Jones on Aranica with 78.73%, a successful conclusion as she was unable to get through the snow last year to compete.

Eight of our members attended, and the whole event, run by Julie Hyslop of Vale View, Vanessa Knight who has been involved with every Talent Spotting since it moved to Vale View, and Amy Cullen, the British Dressage Para Officer, had a wonderful buzz and atmosphere with the immaculate arenas, decorated for the occasion, separate warm-up arenas and the food was brilliant!
